About Dyfed Community Advocacy & Guidance
Every individual deserves to be acknowledged, thoroughly understood, and meaningfully supported, regardless of the challenges or difficulties they may encounter in life.
DCAG was established on this foundational principle. We are committed to delivering independent, non-statutory advocacy services alongside community-based guidance and tailored support for individuals across Pembrokeshire. Our approach is designed to meet the unique circumstances and requirements of each individual we serve.
Our purpose is clear and impactful: to provide assistance in navigating complex systems, articulating thoughts and feelings effectively, and accessing appropriate support in a manner that is safe, personalized, and empowering. Whether the need is to better understand mental health services, manage daily challenges, or simply engage with someone neutral and impartial, DCAG offers dedicated time, a supportive environment, and an empathetic understanding.
Our services are led by an independent advocate and former support worker, whose extensive qualifications and lived experience ensure expertise and professionalism across the following key areas:
- Mental health and emotional wellbeing
- Dementia and cognitive health
- Learning disabilities and neurodivergence
- Leadership and community management
- Safeguarding and trauma-informed practice
The founder’s professional credentials include membership in the Chartered Management Institute (ACMI), the Institute of Leadership (MIoL), and the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIHM). These affiliations highlight a commitment to effective leadership, ethical responsibility, and the highest standards of service delivery.
While we do not provide clinical or regulated social care services, our aim is to serve as a compassionate bridge, connecting individuals to the resources and assistance they require. Our focus lies in simplifying complex systems and rights into accessible language, assisting with correspondence or appointment preparation, identifying relevant services, and offering a neutral, reflective space where individuals can feel supported.
At the heart of DCAG’s mission is a focus on people rather than processes. Advocacy, in our view, transcends formal systems and is fundamentally a human-centred practice. It may involve providing practical assistance, such as clarifying confusing documentation or organizing one’s thoughts. At other times, it may simply involve offering a steady and empathetic presence for those who have felt unheard or overlooked for far too long.
Our guiding principle remains steadfast: every individual deserves support that empowers rather than dictates, guidance that listens rather than instructs, and advocacy that prioritizes their voice, respects their pace, and honours their choices.
Additionally, we provide paid practical support services within non-regulated domains. These include activities such as cleaning, meal preparation, community engagement, wellbeing check-ins, and more. All services are delivered by fully trained, qualified, insured, and DBS-verified support workers with training within mental health, community intervention and trauma awareness.
